Restaurant Guide

There is certainly no shortage of places to eat in Hakuba as the town is jam packed with high quality restaurants and snack bars, catering to all tastes and budgets. In the following article, we’ve outlined some of our favourites….

Wadano

The Ridge Restaurant at the Hakuba Hana Hotel serves fabulous wholesome Western food. La Negie Restaurant is a classy traditional French restaurant inside the La Neige Higashikan. They have an impressive wine list and the staff are charming and service impeccable. Cedar House is located on the main Wadano street. It’s a typical Izakaya style Japanese pub. The restaurant at the Terry Hotel serves good sized western style foods. For those who like contemporary Australian food then head to Restaurant Mimi’s in the Phoenix Hotel. They also have a great wine list. The Tokyu Hotel has two restaurants the Japanese Manyo and the French Chamonix.  At the Mominoki Hotel and Complex you have the choice of the Ogino's Steakhouse, Izakaya kaz as well as The Pub with serves typical pub fare and the Kanpeki that has “wagyu”, Japanese beef. Double Black serves an international selection of dishes. A recent favorite, especially after a days on the mountains is Eclipse Restaurant located in the Luna Hotel serving tasty Italian dishes.


 

Happo

Uncle Steven’s Tex-Mex restaurant is an institution in Hakuba featured on many TV shows. Plenty of tequila cocktails here. Koi-ya serves Japanese food as well as http://www.hakubaconnect.com/images/stories/food/uncle%20stevens.jpgGhengis Khan, Mongolian lamb dishes. Harapeko is a yakiniku Korean style BBQ restaurant, it is close by to the base at Nakiyama and is great for lunch as well as dinner. Also at the Nakiyama base is Bangkok-ya with great Thai food. The Jardin Restaurant inside the Hakuba Springs Hotel serves great French food that won’t hurt your pockets. For a traditional Japanese style pub head to Kihachi with excellent seafood dishes fresh from the Japan Sea.


 

Hakuba Station Area

New at Hakuba station is Tanukis, Hakuba's first Sports Bar. Grab a drink and snack while watching international sports. Gravity Worx is a friendly log style restaurant serving Italian dishes and pizza. Emu across from the train station has some of the largest portions in Hakuba, including a giant sized bowl of noodles. Hana-ya is a lively Izakaya with some great chicken and beef kebabs. Kikyo-ka is renowned as the best restaurant to enjoy the freshest and most delicious Japanese cuisine.


 

Echoland & Misorano

Avalanche is a great restaurant that uses only local and imported ingredients, sit back and relax is the message here. Cherry Pub is an American style pub that serves some great pub fare. Don’t forget to try the spicy buffalo wings. For pizzas then head to Syo for evening dining, they also serve some great pasta dishes as well. Traumerei has some of the best French cuisine in Hakuba, reservations are a must. Enchante is one of our editors favorites, a small family restaurant nestled in the woods with great contemporary French food and over 2000 wines in the wine cellar. Tomatito motto is drink, eat & play, enjoy good Italian food. A recent addition next to Echoland Onsen is Sanno serving top quality Wagyu beef. Just down from Echoland is Hindi Momo, Hakuba’s only Indian and Nepalese restaurant. Curries can be requested on spiciness. Zen across the road from 7-Eleven specialize in local grown soba noodles, reservations are recommended. Garlic with it's own horse stable is one of the most popular Italian restaurants in town.


 

Goryu

Jyankenpon is a cozy Izakaya serving dishes to match the drinks. Even though more of a bar, Tracks Bar serves traditional pub food such as pizza and burgers. Canada Tei is Hakuba's only teppan restaurant. Watch the chef cook right in front of you. Arriba Arriba serve great coffee. Saturday & Monday evenings are California Mexican cuisine. Enjoy dining at Bradbury's Restaurant. Great food and Great service.
