How do I get to and from Hakuba?
There are many options to get to Hakuba. Many foreign tourists like to come by Shinkansen (bullet train). This is an unique experience to enjoy modern Japan. To help you decide, please see the article on Getting Here. Top of page!
How do I get around Hakuba?
Hakuba Valley is quite spread out with the main areas are not really in walking distance. In winter ski shuttle buses deliver you to the ski areas. During the evening the Genki-Go bus circulates the town. Taxi's are also available, there is a taxi rank in the center of the town, and all taxis are able to carry skis & snowboards. When is the best time of year to visit Hakuba?
This is a matter of personal preference with all the seasons having something different. Basically January & February are the busiest for snow related activities and the summer months of July & August for Hiking. Sometimes the quieter months are the best times for visiting with seasonal changes bringing wonderful color to the mountains. Please check our guides on Green Season and Winter. Top of page!
What is Hakuba really like?
Well we like it! It is a wonderful all year round resort, sometimes called Chamonix of Japan The scenery is magnificent, there are plenty of things to see or do and the locals are very friendly.

What are the local food specialties to try?
